The unit plan below was designed by me while doing my student teaching at Newton Falls Junior High. I submitted this unit for my cumulative K-STEP project, Kent State's equivalent to the EdTPA. If interested, I can provide links to a variety of additional materials related to this unit and project, including videos of me implementing the unit, student work/feedback samples, and a comprehensive assessment report done after the summative quiz.
The unit plan below was designed by me while doing my Practicum course at Kent State University, the first part of my student teaching at Newton Falls Junior High. This 10-day unit is designed using Wit and Wisdom's 7th grade curriculum. The unit introduces the novel The Midwife's Apprentice and engages students in activities that teach literary analysis, narrative writing, speech fluency, and more.
The sample lesson plan below was entirely designed by me. The lesson centers around one central objective, "Students will be able to explain the impact of an author's choice of setting and environment on the tone and direction of a story." Students analyze the concept through both modern and classic resources, the movie The Hunger Games and the novel Jane Eyre.
The sample lesson plan below was designed by myself and four other Kent State students. We taught this lesson to a group of juniors and seniors in a teaching/social work prep high school course learning about the social justice considerations in these professions.
